Yesterday, Sarah and Jared eloped at their home in Northern Maine.
It has really been hard for them getting to this day. I was originally booked for their wedding last fall, but unfortunately due to a personal matter those plans had to be cancelled. So they made plans for an ultimate elopement in Vegas, but then *those* plans had to be cancelled as well due to the coronavirus. It was all so unfair. When they messaged me a little over a week ago and told me about their plans to elope at home and asked if I'd be willing to photograph it. I just couldn't say no.
They were SO(!!!) deserving of a special day!
So, I grabbed my photography equipment, along with gloves and my (homemade) face mask, and off I went. I'm so glad I was able to capture this moment ( from a safe distance away ) for them.
When I arrived, Jared was ready and hiding in a back bedroom as Sarah greeted me at the door. It was FAR from my usual start to the day as I arrived with gloves and my pink homemade mask on, and I couldn't welcome Sarah with a big hug, but she was so wonderful about it. Nothing was going to ruin their day for them this time, not even the coronavirus!
I got to work photographing their wedding day details just as I would any other wedding. Everything they had planned was PERFECT!
Soon Sarah got ready, and it was time for the first look and ceremony. Jared anxiously awaited Sarah's entrance in front of the picture window in their living room. When she stepped into the room, his eyes instantly welled up and it was SO sweet! They were married right in their living room in a ceremony officiated by their friend. There were no guests, just the 4 friends included in their bridal party and ceremony.
Honestly... it was pretty perfect if you ask me <3
Following the ceremony we went out front of their home and took portraits right in the middle of their road. For those familiar with Northern Maine, you know it doesn't get much more socially distant than that ;)
I know this isn't how they envisioned their wedding day going. Especially since they've actually planned two weddings before planning this elopement! Still, they were able to let their love for each other win above all else and prove that NOTHING could stand in their way of becoming husband and wife. That, my friends, is what it's all about.
Congratulations, Sarah and Jared!
