I love any chance I get to work in Portland, so I was already excited when I hit the road and headed south for my first Portland engagement session of the year. Meeting Michaela and Hakim in person finally after a year's postponement made my trip back to Portland and absolute dream and so much fun!
Originally we had planned for their engagement session to happen in the spring of 2020 but as everyone now knows, basically any plans made back then dissolved into a pile of... well... whatever it was that was left once the lockdowns started. It broke my heart to reschedule with them, especially because Michaela is an NYC nurse and she just really deserved some sort of something special for a day. Better late than never though, right!?
Meeting them was like meeting people for the tenth time rather than the first time. It was so easy and so much fun! We started their engagement session at Widgery Wharf, my favorite starting point in downtown Portland. It just has that perfect bit of "Maine", and is a nice quiet spot to warm into working together. ( Not that they needed it, though. They were absolute naturals in front of the lens!) We spent the next hour or so wandering around downtown Portland capturing their engagement photos and sharing stories along the way. Before I knew it, almost two hours had gone by and it was time to say goodbye!
They are the sweetest couple and I can not wait for their Peaks island wedding this summer!!
