After all these years, every once in a while I still get to experience some wedding traditions for the first time. Maria and Steve's BEAUTIFUL wedding day was full of new experiences for me, and just loved it so much. I'll get to those amazing traditions in a bit but first, let's start at the beginning.
Jessie and I arrived at the home where all the ladies the were getting ready and the energy was nothing less than palpable. As we walked up to the door and knocked, Maria quickly ran over and greeted us with hugs. She's the SWEETEST! Inside things were pretty busy with everyone getting ready, but everyone seemed to be having the best time. Music was playing, people were dancing, and it was such a fun part of the day.
Maria chose a beautiful lace wedding gown and paired it with the veil her mother wore on her wedding day. So sweet! There were no shortage of tears when Mrs. Stavros helped secure her veil into Maria's hair <3 Once Maria was all ready we got Mr. Stavros into place for her first look with her dad. You guys... just before turning around he mentioned how that moment reminded him of when she was born. (I'm not crying, YOU'RE CRYING!) Once he turned around all those emotions bubbled over.
Maria and Steve's ceremony was so beautiful and rich with Greek Orthodox tradition. There were several different items and moments that are unique to the Greek culture, each carrying significant symbolism and each beautifully represented throughout their ceremony. I don't dare explain the meaning of each one for fear of getting something wrong, but I do encourage you to research traditional Greek Orthodox wedding ceremonies if you're curious. It was truly beautiful!
Following their ceremony, we headed about 45 minutes towards " The Cape" for their reception at Waverly Oaks Golf Club. What a venue!!! Everything was so pretty and tasteful. And that band!! Oh my goodness... what a night <3
Congratulations, Maria and Steve!!!
