The SCP Wedding Experience

February 7, 2019

I bet if you googled wedding photographers in your area you would quickly learn just how many of us there really are. We're everywhere.  Our style sets us apart some, but the thing that really makes us different from one another is the experience  we offer!  Your experience with your photographer should absolutely be an EXPERIENCE, and one you would want to do again.  Here is a little bit about what the SCP Wedding Experience is like and what my clients get when they invest in me :)

I am not just offering beautiful wedding photos. I am offering my clients an easy, happy, and fun wedding day experience! I spend 8 hours of your wedding day at your side and I promise you will look back at moments during our time together and smile. Here is a little snapshot of what working with me looks like.
Initially, there are a lot of emails. I'm happy to answer any question at all. Sometimes I get to have in person consults with local couples, phone consults with clients further away, and sometimes even Skype consults which I honestly LOVE! It's so fun to have face to face meetings with my out of state friends :) Once the decision to book with me has been made, I guide my clients through the very easy
digital booking process and work on scheduling their complimentary engagement
session.

session. I absolutely love engagement photo sessions with my clients. It's often our first time meeting in person which is always exciting in itself. Since it's our first time working together, my goal is always to make it as fun as possible. I often hear, " That wasn't bad at all! Actually, it was pretty fun!" and I just love that! Being photographed can definitely be an awkward process but it doesn't have to be. At this session my clients learn my secrets to posing and getting natural moments of interaction, and more than anything else I think they learn that the three of us are in this photography journey together.

While I love engagement sessions, wedding days are my favorite. The anticipation, emotion, attire, decorations...my goodness. All of it is simply just magical. Being able to watch my clients exchange their vows is truly one of the biggest blessings of my life. By this time I am fully invested in them and their wedding day. Emotional moments still bring tears to my eyes and funny, lighthearted moments fill me with joy. I am usually contracted for 8 hours for wedding days. Most times I arrive in the bridal suite while everyone is still working on getting ready. I say my hellos and give hugs, then get to work. I use this time to photograph all the special details that they worked so hard to pick out, those special getting ready moments, and anything else I can. While photographing ceremonies I do my best to stay out of the way as much as possible. The last thing I would ever want is to be any amount of distracting. I will photograph every moment possible so that you can look back and witness exactly what you guests did. I do my best to make formal portrait time as fun for everyone as possible. During the reception, it is very important to me that I respect your guest's experience. Because of that I have one absolute rule: I don't photograph guests during their meal. Often times that is when I am eating as well anyway, but I am always close by so that a surprise speech never goes undocumented. Most times from this point on I document every bit of fun happening out of that dance floor :) At the end of the evening, I like to grab a quick photo with my clients and then say our goodbyes. That part always makes me a little sad!

Once back to my office I immediately get to work on their images. I back them up ( and back them up, then back them up again) and start editing. I lovingly edit every single image myself. I never outsource even a single photo. As I edit their images I build their digital gallery. Galleries always contain hundreds and hundreds of beautiful, full size, high resolution images. My goal is to delivery galleries within 30 days that allow my clients and their families to relive the entire day each time they look through it. My clients are welcome to download their galleries as many times to as many devices as they would like. I keep each gallery up for one year, then keep the photos backed up indefinitely.

The most important thing you can remember about choosing your photographer is to look into the experience you would have with them.  It makes all the difference!
